Oreo Krispie Lumps of Coal

We can’t quite wrap our heads around the
fact that Christmas is just 4 short days away.
We need about two more weeks!

That being said, we have quite a few gatherings
coming up, and now a whole lot of time to
Make anything extravagant.

These Oreo Krispie “lumps of coal”
are PERFECT! Not only do they take less than 10
minutes to make, they are AMAZING.

You will need:

6 cups of crushed oreos
4 TBS. of butter
Half a bag of large marshmallows
Black food coloring or black sprinkles..
Whichever one you can find!
We used sprinkles.
Good thing all lumps of coal aren't this delicious.
We'd have to add alot more people to the
naughty list!

How to make

1.    Pour Oreos into a large
                                                             bowl and set aside.
2.    In a medium saucepan, heat marshmallows and
butter over medium heat until only a few lumps of mallows are left.
At the step if you chose food coloring, drop a few drops
into the Mallow Mix to darken.
3.    Pour marshmallow mixture over Oreos and mix
well until all the Oreos are coated.
4.    Press mixture into an 8x8 inch pan and let sit until cooled.
5.    Scoop into balls with a spoon.
6. If you chose sprinkles, at this stage, coat you
treats with the black sprinkles to cover
the white mallows for a coal effect.

We bought these brown paper lunch
sacks to fill with our lumps of coal.
That way it could double as a last minute
office gift as well!

Tunesday; Everyday is Christmas

It's been awhile since we have seen Sia's
eyes, but they are as big and bright as ever on the
cover of her new Holiday album,
Everyday is Christmas.

We've always been a fan of Sia for
her quirkiness and eclectic music,
and her Christmas album is no exception
to this. Every song a new twist and take on
holiday music; a nice
mix if you aren't into the classics, or they
have just been downright overplayed.
We highly recommend checking this album
out. Our favorite song on the album is her
ode to Christmas Party Drunkeness, Ho, Ho, Ho!

The video is (not surprisingly) just as fun!

Check it out on Spotify

Happy Tunesday!

It's crunch time for holiday shopping,
and we'll be the first to admit, we're not
quite done yet. While normally we would
resort to the ease of Amazon.com's "one-click"

this year we are on a mission to slow down,
take more time, and be a little more

Philomena + Ruth

Don't you just LOVE when you find
a brand that is just RAD in every way?
Good, us too. We first fell in love with
Philomena + Ruth YEARS ago when we
fell into her booth at a local fair and
discovered her headbands. Fast forward to now,
Philomena + Ruth is an independently owned store in
 historic downtown Waterloo, IL, that
carries handcrafted and independently produced
clothing, accessories, jewelry,
and home decor from the best artisans,
 both locally and nationally.

In addition, founder Elizabeth Hahn designs
handmade accesories and socially concious
graphic shirts, like this one,
that are sold in stores and online.

Everything is made with community
and environment in mind.

We also are quite fond of this
leather fringe sweater that just hit our closets,
and of course, the patches!

If you're like us, and still have some holiday shopping
to do, why not check out Philomena + Ruth,
and while your at it, treat yourself too!
