{red} candied apples

There is something equally creepy and beautiful about a classic red candy apple; it's a little Snow White meets the Evil Queen. Here is our recipe to make the sweet and scary apples!

What you'll need:

6 apples {red delicious}
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. light corn syrup
3/4 c. water
parchment paper
butter or cooking spray
wooden sticks {small twigs}

How to make:
In a deep-bottomed sauce pan, mix the corn syrup, sugar and water. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium high heat. Insert a candy thermometer and let it boil until it reaches 300-310 degrees. While it's boiling, line a baking sheet with greased parchment paper (this makes the apples easier to remove). Also, insert the wooden sticks into each apple about halfway through. When the mixture reaches temperature, remove from heat immediately. Dip and twirl apples in the mixture covering completely. Work quickly before the sugar starts to harden. Transfer to baking sheet to cool.
Happy Halloween!

  1. Hi there, not sure if my other comment went through so I'll try again! :) These are simply gorgeous and thank you for sharing! I'm going to make them for my friends daughters Once Upon a Time themed Birthday Party :) One question though, for your twigs - Are they store bought or just natural from outside? If store bought, where did you find them and if natural, did you do anything to sanitize them? Just curious what route I should take :) Thank you so much! Can't wait to make these beauties! -Rashelle

    1. I hope this message is not too late, and that you receive it! We used branches from our yard and washed them. I think it would be cool if you found some really spiraly ones at a craft store and spray painted them! especially if you are needing quite a few of them, it might be easier then hunting around for some good ones. Hope this helps!

      cheers!
